Hello, I’m Sofía Ávila, a Venezuelan artist based in Portugal. Painting has long been the most natural way for me to observe and understand the world.
I find inspiration in everyday life and in nature: simple scenes, shifts in light, brief moments that often go unnoticed. I’m interested in pausing for them, reinterpreting them, and transforming them into images that invite a slower, more attentive gaze.
My work is constantly evolving. Each series and each process allows me to explore new ways of seeing, new colors, and new sensitivities. This search is an essential part of my practice.
I paint to preserve what moves me, to give space to what is fleeting, and to keep discovering what I want to express through image.
Hola, soy Sofía Ávila, una artista venezolana radicada en Portugal. La pintura ha sido, desde hace mucho tiempo, mi manera más natural de observar y comprender el mundo.
Encuentro inspiración en lo cotidiano y en la naturaleza: escenas simples, cambios de luz, momentos breves que suelen pasar desapercibidos. Me interesa detenerme en ellos, reinterpretarlos y transformarlos en imágenes que inviten a mirar con calma.
Mi trabajo está en constante evolución. Cada serie y cada proceso me permiten explorar nuevas formas de mirar, nuevos colores y nuevas sensibilidades. La búsqueda es una parte esencial de mi práctica.
Pinto para preservar aquello que me conmueve, para darle un lugar a lo fugaz y para seguir descubriendo qué quiero contar a través de la imagen.
